 Based on https://www.virtualbox.org/manual/ch05.html#iocaching

 I would note that this is the main reason we do not mount the
 MySQL/MariaDB data folders as shared folders by default. The database
 server can become unstable when shared DB folders are turned on depending
 on the workload and the nature of the underlying OS and Hardware.
