 Hi there, welcome back to WordPress Trac! Thanks for the ticket.

 I agree with comment:1, it seems trivial to create an `author.php`
 template from `archive.php` and customize it as needed. I guess that is
 why newer bundled themes don't have a specific `author.php` template.
