Comment (by jrf):

 FYI: tickets #52825 and #53585 are both prerequisites before the test runs
 against PHP 8.1 in CI can be turned on.

 With patches for those two tickets committed, the tests will run, though
 there will still be warnings all over the place in earlier steps and lots
 of test failures/errors, but at least they will run.
