 @codedread Thanks for the report!

 This happens with version 5.5.2, but not WordPress 5.4. It also occurs
 with the latest Gutenberg plugin activated (9.2.2).

 The datepicker likewise closes when:
 - selecting one of the dates in the calendar table or
 - using the spacebar to switch from AM to PM (or PM to AM)

 Plus, when using the keyboard (Enter or space), the focus is not anywhere
 near the sidebar to re-open the datepicker for adjusting another part of
 the date.

 I tested with Firefox 82, Chrome 86, and Edge 86 on Windows 10.
