 FYI I've tested image uploads (and thumbnailing) with 5.6-beta1 and
 Google's [https://github.com/GoogleCloudPlatform/wordpress-
 plugins/tree/master/gcs-media-plugin cloud storage plugin] 0.1.6.  LGTM.
