I agree on point 1, about adding http/https to the URL. But I'm wondering,
should we include both? The https://example.com and http://example.com?

Yeah, it makes sense IMO to rephrase the original sentence. @marybaum, I'd
love to have your feedback about the proposed wording :).

What if we include instead a link to a resource that clarify that. We
don't want the help panel to be also very long I think.
