 So the issue happened on the core but not on Gutenberg because Gutenberg
 used an older version of a library that had some issue that by luck made
 the things work.
 Meanwhile, that library was also updated on Gutenberg and things also
 stopped working with Gutenberg.
 I'm proposing a fix on Gutenberg in PR
 https://github.com/WordPress/gutenberg/pull/26212.
