Comment:

 Closing this as `wontfix` as the classic editor is in "maintenance mode"
 meaning we're not accepting enhancements.

 That said, I think this functionality would be useful to have in the block
 editor. I'd encourage any interested contributors to open an issue or PR
 in the Gutenberg repo.
