 Hi @rufftimo and thanks for the report!

 I'm not sure you completed the Crop action before trying to save it. Did
 you do follow this process and miss the third step?

 1. Activate/click the Crop button.
 2. Adjust the edges with the cursor.
 3. Either click the Crop button again or press the Enter key.
 4. Save.

 I think another ticket proposed making that clearer.
