 Hi @fastpenguin91 and thanks for the suggestion!

 Since Gutenberg issue GB21907 already covers the concept, I'll close this
 ticket so any further discussion of adding it to the editor's image blocks
 continues there.

 If you're still having trouble implementing the lightbox modal on your
 site(s), whether you want to find/use a plugin or create a custom
 solution, you could ask for help in the support forums.
