 Their oEmbed doesn't recognize their short links. Using your example short
 URL returns a 404:
 https://www.flickr.com/services/oembed/?format=json&url=https%3A//flic.kr/s/aHsmLCQa2e

 There isn't way for us to determine the full URL from the shortened ones
 without hitting the redirect first and then transforming it.

 I think the right solution is to try to report upstream to see if they
 could fix their oEmbed endpoint to recognize their own short URLs.
