 I haven't got the feedback I'd like (except "yes we should do this"), but
 I think there's still time for the cycle in terms of stability (the reason
 for the `early` tag).

 Have this on my 5.5 priorities, and would like to get something landed
 that can iterate a little during alpha. Any attention as far as feedback
 from folks would be appreciated, though.
