 I think this could use some input from a maintainer of the Users
 component. @johnbillion if you don't mind the ping, I'm curious your
 thoughts on getting this in the scope of 5.5. There's a lot of history
 here that I want to be mindful of. I personally think that this is a great
 change and our gracious contributor @cdog has offered to refresh.
