 The lack of this functionality has always frustrated me, and I'm wondering
 if anyone has reasons for explicitly not allowing this on MultiSite?

 At first I thought so, but then I realized that if they wanted the site
 archived/deleted, they could've just done that INSTEAD of removing
 themselves.
