Comment:

 @whyisjake - thanks for the review. I don't think that patch applies to
 the patch in #4-1, because it is validating email addresses directly, and
 I think it's more of a demonstration that a real test that is meant to be
 included in WP core.

 I will upload a new patch with a new test added (to the mail test file,
 which I believe is more appropriate).
