Comment:

 Looks like
 https://core.trac.wordpress.org/attachment/ticket/30155/30155.6.diff is
 useful and would still be worth committing. Punting this to 5.6 so it will
 have more testing time.

 Other than that fix, I feel like we should focus efforts on the user image
 experience in the block editor - which now includes inline image cropping.
 Editing images inline probably makes more sense in most cases anyway
 because the user can see the full context.
