 The only reason is to support uploading and using of photos taken on
 iPhone. This seems to be a somewhat common use case.

 Agree it needs a second opinion/more consideration. Perhaps a message
 about converting them before uploading would be sufficient.

 Just thinking WP shouldn't leave the users wandering why they cannot
 upload the photos they've taken.
