Comment:

 I question why core needs to support these file types at all.

 If you share or export a HEIC from iOS it converts it to JPEG, so you lose
 any special data contained within the HEIC.

 If you need that special data from HEIC files then I think you'll be doing
 custom development anyway and can whitelist the mime types.

 What advantage is gained by core supporting these file types that are not
 supported in any browser?
