Comment (by desrosj):
I'm 80% through a deep review of everything here. Some small feedback that
can be addressed outside of the improvements that I am working on:
- We need to standardize the term "auto-update". I confirmed with
@chanthaboune that it should be hyphenated. I looked at the documentation
already found within the core auto updater, and it was all over the place
(auto update, auto-update, autoupdate). After we make this consistent in
the new code and documentation we are introducing, it should be added to
the [https://make.wordpress.org/core/handbook/best-practices/spelling/
spelling best practices page] and a new ticket can be created to fix the
current inconsistencies.
- For multisite, I believe in my testing I was able to toggle a plugin's
auto-update on and off within a site dashboard. This should only be
available on the network admin plugins screen for the primary network, and
only network admins should have the ability to turn auto-updates on or
off.
