 I made a supportive comment on
 [https://core.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/50988 this Trac ticket];
 ironically about disabling WordPress plugin update emails. Since then I
 have unwatched it by deselecting the blue star at the top of the ticket.
 Nevertheless, I keep getting email updates.
