 Why `__defineGetter__` instead of `defineProperty`? It seems like the
 former isn't encouraged, at least [https://developer.mozilla.org/en-
 US/docs/Web/JavaScript/Reference/Global_Objects/Object/__defineGetter__
 according to mdn].
