 This was documented in https://make.wordpress.org/core/2020/08/05/more-
 support-for-javascript-i18n-in-wordpress-5-5/ but it's definitely not as
 explicit as it could be.

 I wonder if there's a way we can lazily proxy these variables to their
 `__()` equivalent in the future.
