 Just noting that when testing [attachment:"50913-1.patch"] with PHP 8.0
 Beta 2 on my install, the "argument must be passed by reference, value
 given" message is a warning, rather than a fatal error. I guess it might
 have changed between Beta 1 and Beta 2. The patch does fix the issue
 though.
