 Work on this has continued in the [https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-
 autoupdates/ WordPress Auto-updates] feature plugin (via it's
 [https://github.com/WordPress/wp-autoupdates/ GitHub repo]).

 The development of the feature plugin is close to being "feature complete"
 and we are getting ready to put together a merge proposal.
