 This patch will actually work. ;) Whether this is safe to do is a separate
 question, and may require further exploration.

 I'm not sure what the best way is to identify examples of plugins that
 could trigger problems here. The hooks that might be used in such a case
 would be very generic, and most examples wouldn't be relevant.
