@afercia sorry! I can see how that can be misread. I think this patch
absolutely **can** make it in for 5.3. I am just proposing we remove the
deprecation of the old function from the scope as it could have some
unintended consequences. I am all for getting this in the next week
(pending another committer approval) if we can all agree to that.
