 Just to be clear, you are saying the real issue is that Core is unhappy
 with the implementation of sticky posts (no disagreement here really) and
 that by allowing the checkbox to display on CPTs (consistent with the way
 they work on 'post') could increase the use of the sticky post concept,
 thus making it more difficult to remove down the road?
