 [https://mu.trac.wordpress.org/changeset/834 mu:834] added the original
 check for port numbers, though the commit message doesn't have any
 additional details.

 [https://mu.trac.wordpress.org/changeset/871 mu:871] and
 [https://mu.trac.wordpress.org/changeset/1428 mu:1428] whitelisted the
 `:80` and `:443` ports, which is essentially the code we have now.

 [attachment:"15936.4.diff"] seems like a sensible approach.
