Changes (by mikeschroder):

 * Attachment "40439.3.diff" added.

 In progress patch. Replaces `multi_resize` for images in
 `wp_generate_attachment_metadata` with `_wp_create_image_subsizes` so that
 metadata gets updated as sizes are created.
