 Someone else on the forum reports the same problem when using Debian
 Stretch on a Raspberry Pi 2 - that will also be 32-bit, and I wonder if
 having to do lots of 64-bit multiply operations via 32-bit maths is an
 element of this (and why it wasn't picked up when testing...)
