Comment (by knutsp):

 As long as we still will be able to:

 * Greet users by first name
 * Sort users primarily by last name, then first_name etc.

 There is already two single name fields, nickname and display_name.

 If the order of First name and Last name fields on the profile page are
 allowed to be swapped, and nickname allowed in between these for the
 display name option list, we are a long way to the goal, without this.
