 In any case, wpautop() has a feature that is arguably desirable, but
 implemented in a buggy fashion.  The essential idea of a fix was presented
 above.

 I don't know what other bugs will similarly be allowed to persist, so I'll
 simply be writing all my themes to remove this filter.
