 @iandunn I can not agree more than that.

 @efilippucci I already tried that, and it works (using also some plugin to
 support svg files), but that's not the whole thing. For example, with the
 most popular WP theme (Avada) it won't. I asked them why and they say that
 they won't support it until WP officially do it first, which leads me
 here. It happens the same also with other popular themes. I didn't debug
 that to know the cause (I have no time, I have to attend my own devs), but
 what's being discussed here I think goes beyond that.

 Again, PLEASE allow svg uploading just in admin mode. Give the user the
 freedom of choosing the file they need to make their site work as desired.
 Do exactly what you already do by allowing core files edition (no plugin
 required), uploading custom scripts / plugins / themes, etc. If I
 obfuscate js code inside a plugin/theme, it's the same effect that you are
 trying to prevent. This decision fits more the profile of a paranoic
 sysadmin than the profile of a rational work team.
