 Hi there, welcome to WordPress Trac! Thanks for the report.

 Auto-drafts are intended functionality and cannot be disabled, as they are
 essential for media management in WordPress, see #14588, #18800, #19079,
 #19310 for more details.

 Unused auto-drafts are automatically deleted after 7 days by
 [https://developer.wordpress.org/reference/functions/wp_delete_auto_drafts/
 wp_delete_auto_drafts()].

 If that does not happen on your install, I'd suggest checking the Tools →
 Site Health screen to see if there are issues with scheduled events or
 missed Cron tasks.
