 "I’m just a user, interested in the admin email confirmation because my
 company has a need for a similar sort of verification, so following the WP
 decisions about it is providing some helpful perspective. I had an idea
 and couldn’t comment on the ticket so I figured I’d drop a reply here in
 case anyone sees it.

 I presume (or would hope, at least) that WP has integrated email tracking
 and you’d be able to tell whether any email to the admin address got
 opened or not. You could set the 6-month verification timeout based on the
 last open from that address, rather than arbitrarily every 6 calendar
 months. As a user, I’d be mildly annoyed to be asked to confirm an address
 that “you should know” I’m actively using, so this approach could maybe
 help minimize that."
