Comment:

 I agree the outline looks quite good actually, and it solves the problem
 of having to make sure colors have sufficient a11y contrast with the text.
 Right-aligning them also looks good to me. One tweak I would make is to
 make the corners square instead of rounded so people don't confuse them
 with buttons, but otherwise go for it!
