 Sorry, I can see how I made it confusing.

 To hopefully clarify I made an alternate proposal in #43740 but soon after
 realized **there are really two (2) use-cases** and that **the original
 use-case in this ticket is valid for custom post types**.

 So I am proposing we continue with a modified version of this ticket as
 per [comment:76 comment:76] and also that we implement the hooks
 identified in [comment:69 comment:96] as proposed in #43740.
