 @allendav : if we want to keep the code simple and ignore the keys then we
 can just append the data to the result array (see 44151.3.patch).

 I'm not sure what the expected result of this would be. Could you
 elaborate? I looked into `_doing_it_wrong` and `wp_send_json_error` but
 the former doesn't work while doing AJAX, and the latter prevents the
 whole download from happening.
