 FYI, when I posted ''"For me the entire point of this ticket is a
 workaround to `WP_Post` being `final`"''  I was not saying if we removed
 `final` there was not a need for the hook in general; I was only saying
 that '''''*I*''''' I did not need the hook ''at that time'' if `final`
 were removed.  #FWIW
