 I'll let one of the multisite committers chime in here, but this seems
 like plugin territory to me.

 I could ''maybe'' see adding some filters to the admin bar output to make
 it a little easier to adjust existing menu items without removing and
 replacing them entirely, but I don't think it should show the site ID by
 the default since it's easy to get from the network admin.
