 Yes, thanks for clarifying @danieltj. I didn't read enough into what John
 had written down to realize his approach was based on email. For this
 ticket I was indeed shooting for a notification center in the admin with
 what we might call 'push' notifications. If there is an option to also
 send an email, no problem, there are sites that do that too (Facebook and
 Twitter among them), but I see the most gain in focusing on in-admin
 'push' notifications first.
