 At our Core Contributor day in WCEU 2018 we were able to review this
 ticket as part of Triage.

 From our perspective:

 1. We don’t have any data to validate that there is harm in keeping the
 version number as is. However, there is anecdotal responses suggesting
 it’s useful for supporting website owners by keeping it where it is.
 2. Also, we don’t see outlined in here the “why”, why would we de-
 emphasize the version? Do we have proof that any change should be made?

 So we absolutely welcome further feedback, but at this time our
 recommendation is to close this ticket out.
