 During the core dev-chat earlier today we discussed whether we need to
 release `4.9.8 RC2` to address the comments/patches on this ticket that
 have been made after `beta2` was released, see
 https://wordpress.slack.com/archives/C02RQBWTW/p1532549919000332.

 @pento what is your current thinking on that?  If we are going to do an
 RC2 we need to do so ASAP.
