Comment:

 I was able to apply the patch correctly on WordPress 4.7-alpha and got
 both esc-attr-name​.diff and 22249.7.diff patches to it to allow for
 easier development / testing.

 I encountered some conflicts when refreshing to the latest Wordpress
 version, but they were fairly easy to solve
