Comment:

 I think all that's needed here are some unit tests and some manual testing
 as well. Unfortunately I am not around much over the weekend to help out
 with that. Any volunteers? :-)

 This currently breaks I18N for lots of people, so it'd be really great to
 get this committed as soon as possible.
