 Can you show the difference between 4.9.8 and 5.0?

 WordPress does not have any specific support for github gist embeds as far
 as I can tell, and since the gists I'm looking at don't have oembed
 headers, then as far as I know, they don't automatically embed on either
 version.

 You can use their embed code, certainly. But in both 4.9.8 and 5.0, since
 gust has no oembed headers, then just pasting the link on it's own line
 will not work for Gists. You have to copy their HTML.
