 On GDPR: #43492 also maybe the privacy policy (#40794 ) could be worded a
 little more explicitly in this regard. (opinion coming) - the people who
 will have a problem with telemetry... well they already will basically
 know where the data is going. Being more transparent - ideally a
 description / diagram of the infrastructure involved - would be a great
 end point.

 This issue has surfaced plenty in the long time I've worked with
 WordPress, but its now certainly worth engaging with. In the same way as
 cookie law popups raised awareness of cookies, GDPR (and to some extent
 recent Facebook privacy concerns), is likely to make more ordinary users
 think about their privacy.

 It would be great if by this time WordPress had a really solid statement
 about what's happening in relation to telemetry.
