 Ok @azaozz, thanks for weighing in although this is a big change since you
 told me I should commit this code a few days ago.

 I regret having invested so much time and effort over the last two years
 working to bring this to core, and wish these concerns and "blockers" had
 been raised much, much earlier and not at the last minute.

 We should be collaborating as a team on these efforts, not arguing the
 merits of a library after a commit with demands for a revert.
