 well it would be enough to ax down PHP 5.2 and anything <5.3.7 and use the
 compatibility library, also even 5.3 as a whole was axed in august 2014,
 over 3 years ago and 5.2 is 6 years and 9 months EOL.

 and even 5.5 is EOL for over a year already. I think we can drop 5.3 and
 go with 5.4 at least even though that is also EOL since over 2 years
 already. a hoster who doesnt even have that should go out of business
 anyway.
