 I noticed some minor visual back-compat issues with the update, which may
 cause issues with some themes and plugins that customize the styling.
 #41844 partially addresses that. The JS compatibility implications brought
 up here are more concerning, and likely more difficult to resolve, as the
 implication is broken players as opposed to visual inconsistencies.
